As part of the month of solidarity and the fight against exclusion, the Prime Minister, Major General Abdoulaye Maïga, visited one of the oldest deans of the Bamako District on Friday, 9 October 2026. It is Diomakan Konaté, born in 1917 (109 years old), who lives in Bakaribougou, in the 2nd district of Bamako.
For the visit, the Prime Minister did not come empty-handed. He brought the patriarch a basket of colas, as a means of respect, and other gifts: a blanket, a mat of prayer, a cap, a rosary, and a symbolic envelope. In return, the Dean has expressed blessings for Mali, for our Armed Forces of Defense and Security and for the highest authorities in Mali.
Diomakan Konate is married to a single woman. He has 15 children and about 30 grandchildren. The centenary is a national of Zua, in the Kolondieba circle. His favorite dish is too.
For the occasion, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Health and Social Development, Colonel Major Assa Badiallo Touré.
